Sulawesi is the island where Alex is from, and the island we slowly fell in love with, trip after trip. It has everything at makes Indonesia so special: the traditional culture of Toraja, the Bajo sea-nomad life of Wakatobi and the Togean Islands, extreme food in Tomohon, untouched jungle in Tangkoko, and breathtaking marine life in Wakatobi and Bunaken. We have already made three long trips across the island, and we are still not finished.

Sulawesi is big, and its mountainous landscape makes travelling an adventure in itself. Roads wind through highlands and remote areas, distances take time, and getting around requires effort, but that is exactly what makes it so rewarding. To truly explore the whole island, you would need at least a month. Sulawesi is the kind of
place you can keep returning to, always discovering something new. We understand not everyone has one month to spare, and that is totally fine. For discovering Sulawesi, we recommend setting aside at least two weeks to truly get a feel for the island and experience some of its most beautiful places.
