Officially, Indonesia consists of more than 17,000 islands, stretching across an ocean wider than the continental United States. Yet only around 6,000 of these islands are home to human life. The rest remain untouched, silent, and wild.
From active volcanoes and white beaches to deep jungles filled with rare wildlife, nature here feels raw and alive. Add the incredible food and some of the kindest, most welcoming people you will ever meet, and you’ll understand why Indonesia is not a country you visit just once. Once you set your first footsteps here, you will want to come back.
For Buka Jalan, everything started from our home in Yogyakarta. From there, our journey began in Sulawesi, and slowly we want to move further east, towards the Sunda Islands, the Moluccas, and Papua.
Our journey through Indonesia is far from finished, and we can’t wait to continue discovering and sharing it with you.
